Lil Coup lets local businesses send coupons and offers by SMS to customers who have opted in.
SMS / text-message consent
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in information with any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging opt-in is used solely to deliver the messages you asked for from the business you subscribed to.
You join a business's list by texting its keyword (for example, SUNRISE) to that business's number. This is express consent to receive recurring automated marketing text messages from that business through Lil Coup.
- Message frequency varies (typically a few messages per month).
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
- Text STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) at any time to stop messages from that business. You will receive a one-time confirmation.

- Consent to receive messages is not a condition of any purchase.
Information we collect
- Your mobile phone number and the date, keyword, and business through which you opted in.
- Message activity — the coupons sent to you, and whether you viewed or redeemed an offer (used to run the program and report to the business).
- Basic technical data when you open a coupon page (such as a timestamp), used for security and anti-abuse.
We do not collect your name, email, or payment information from you as an SMS subscriber unless you choose to provide it.
How we use information
- To deliver the coupons, offers, and announcements you opted in to receive.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Service, including honoring STOP/HELP requests.
- To provide the participating business with aggregate performance information (e.g., how many people redeemed an offer).
- To comply with legal obligations, including Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and applicable telecommunications rules.
When we share information
We share personal information only as needed to run the Service:
- The business you subscribed to — so it can manage its own subscriber list and offers.
- Service providers who operate the platform — for example, our SMS carrier (Twilio) to deliver messages, and our hosting and backup providers. These providers may only use the information to perform services for us.
- Legal reasons — if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.
We never share SMS opt-in data or phone numbers with third parties or affiliates for their marketing.
Data retention & security
We keep subscriber information for as long as you remain opted in and as needed to operate the Service and meet legal requirements; after you opt out we retain only what is necessary to honor your opt-out and comply with the law. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect personal information.
